Here's a WTF moment. Sci-Fi Channel will air wrestling, that's right. The ECW will debut June 13 for a summer limited run. Here's a quote from sci-fi channel president Bonnie Hammer that made me laugh, "an alternate brand of wrestling suited to fit the sci-fi channel's commitment to fuel the imagination."
So what do you guys think?

I think Bonnie Hammer must have someone on her staff that gets science fiction. So we get Galactica, Stargate and such.
Then she takes over, cancels Farscape, puts on lame reality programming, bad B movies and that shiite.
We need someone who REALLY gets science fiction making decisions there.
WTF, over? |

I thought that the sci fi channel in the uk was weak, loads of repeats all day. In the uk V is big news, when i first saw it on one of the tresterial networks in 84 because the LA olympics were'n shown because of a strike. As usual the suits have taken over and know sh@t about what we, the fans REALLY WANT TO SEE. |

I've noticed some cable channels getting shows that don't necessarily fit into their programming. "The Man Show" on G4, Sci-Fi Channel broadcasting "Law and Order SUV" and even the soap opera show "Passions". At one point I heard the Cartoon Network was thinking of getting "Saved by the Bell" for Adults Swim although they got "Pee Wee's Playhouse". They say it's because of low ratings, but I think ultimately you're going to lose viewers. At this point I just watch sci-fi Fridays and their Saturday premiere movies. |

I was wondering what ECW meant. YUCK! Guess I won't be watching Sci Fi Channel this summer. Of course, that IS the point, most folks are on vacation in the summer and so they are naturally going to show junk but ECW! Please. : : |

Actually, from what I hear, Passions is a lame show. But it DOES have fantasy elements.

It seems Passions couldn't attract viewers, sci-fi channel took it out of their morning schedule (Monday through Friday 9 a.m.), now they show TV marathon episodes like before.

I'd rather watch Classic SCIFI than ecw. I will concede that Passions could be called science fiction, witches and such but the classics are better |

The problem is that every President put in charge of a "channel" is charged with one thing - and that is to make as much profit as possible for the folks that own it. Unfortunately, wrestling and reality TV make big bucks based upon the dim whitted masses that are drawn to it, and seem to be able to watch it 24 hours a day. Guess I'm a dimwit as I watch some reality TV as well
Anyway, yes, if indeed this business called the SciFi channel could actually stick with their theme, that would indeed suit all of us scifi watchers.
What do I think. Bonnie was put there to make more money, she's pursuing that and marketing those decisions in whatever way she thinks it can be rationalized.
cheers |

since we all seem to agree that Wrestleing on Sci Fi is a bad idea ( did any one else send a negative e-mail to sci fi channel) and the subject has turned to reality tv, what do you think of" so you want to be a super hero with Stan lee" Me, i just want to see the train wreck. Stan you could do so much better |
